I can't believe that when I was posting last night I forgot a big THANK YOU! Our friends, Matt and Kim, were able to secure a laptop for us. Matt works for a company that has helped us in the past with a scale for Daniel when we first came home and when he talked with them about us needing a laptop, they offered us one. So, I wanted to take a moment to thank Matt and Kim for always trying to help us with whatever we need. You guys are truly good friends!

We have a date....
First off, I hope you all made it to the new blog. I wanted to use this as a daily (hopefully) diary of Daniel's journey at Richmond Children's and their feeding program. I contemplated just adding all this information to the CarePage but I know it is sometimes hard to log onto and I had been having so much trouble getting it to save my updates that I decided to set up a blog instead. If you want to keep up with our journey in Richmond, please add us to your favorites and check back here for updates on what is happening during our 8 week trip.
Now, onto other things. The date has been set and we are starting the program in Richmond on February 9th. I have housing set up (it almost killed me to hear the price) and we have been informed that as of right now our insurance will not pay about $12,000 of the bill for the feeding program. It could be a little more or a little less in the end but it is what it is. We are just thankful to get into this program and will do whatever we need to do. A good friend of mine told me (and I'm not quoting verbatim because I don't remember her exact words) that there are some things that you would spend every penny you have on and this would definitely be one of them. At the time, I was worrying about how to come up with all this $$ we are going to owe. However, she is right. Coming home with Daniel eating real food and not using his tube would be an absolute miracle. I can only hope and pray that Daniel does well during our 8 weeks in Richmond. My friend also told me that if she won the lottery she would pay for this program for us....I hope she is still buying tickets because we have a couple of weeks yet, lol!
Onto Abigale, she is doing great. She doesn't really understand how long 8 weeks is but she knows that we will be gone a while. She is starting to get teary eyed when I talk with her about it but I know she will do fine. She'll be staying at Eric's parents house some days and daddy will be bringing her home on other days. She won't be coming to visit us in Richmond because I just think it would be too hard for her. I think when she got there that she wouldn't want to leave and would get really upset so we haven't even mentioned to her the option of coming to visit. Also, for those of you that know, Abigale's birthday is 03/14 but we will be gone during that time. So, we have decided to just skip her real birthday date and we will celebrate her birthday when we all get home. She doesn't really understand the days so she won't really know it is her birthday. We are just going to spend it as any other day and do something fun when we can all be home. Eric's mom thought about giving her a little party but I think she would be really upset because Daniel and I are not there and Daddy is also going to be out of town that day. I just told Eric's mom not to say anything to her about it being her birthday and she will never even know. But, I can't believe my baby is going to be 5!!! She's going to start Kgarten this year - no way!
Well, I gotta get things done so I'll sign off for now. Please keep Daniel and me in your thoughts and prayers and I hope you will join us on our journey to eating by mouth.
